Since the early 1990's Walk-by AMR applications have proven to be an efficient and cost effective means of automating a meter reading process, delivering rapid improvements in both customer service and operational efficiencies. As there is no need to site and install fixed network infrastructure devices such as repeaters or data concentrators, once deployed the system requires no maintenance.
Radio-Tech's transmitter is a highly popular entry level AMR device intended for mobile meter reading applications. It is compatible with most pulse enabled meters, making it a perfect choice for both retrofit and new deployments where meters from multiple manufacturers are to be used.
The transmitter is available as a single or dual input device, delivering further economic benefits to utilities where co-located meters are common.
How it works
Available on both 434MHz and 869MHz. the Transmitter operates like a mini data-logger. It uses advanced micro-power technology to accumulate the total number of pulses / switch closures produced by water, heat, gas or electricity meters before broadcasting the total count at pre-determined intervals, usually 10-seconds. Transmitted data is captured using Radio-Tech's USB receiver which can be connected to a laptop or handheld PC.
Waterproofing is guaranteed through an encapsulation technique performed during the manufacturing process. This allows the transmitter to be installed in inhospitable areas such as meter pits or service shafts without any harmful effects to performance.
